Well, this isn’t exactly a blog. I was just trying to find an easy way to talk about a couple of fun days I had with Ellie and this page was the result.

(Ellie’s favorite) Then got dressed and walked over to the Metra. Of course we made a quick stop at Starbucks for some Apple Juice and Coffee! The 9:18am train was right on time and we were on our way. Ellie was very excited.

Got off the train and walked to Grand and State to catch the “trolley bus.” (so named because Ellie loves busses and kept wanting to get on every bus we saw) Got off the trolley at Navy Pier and decided to hit some of the rides.

Yes, Ellie did go on the Ferris Wheel!

Then we took a ride on the Merry-go-round. Ellie had to ride the giraffe!

Oh, and I forgot to mention that the air and water show was this weekend. Ellie thought the airplanes were very loud. Navy Pier is actually a good place to watch as most of the planes make turns at that point so you get a good view. We could see the planes really well from the Ferris Wheel and the helicopters got very, very close. (they flew over Navy Pier a couple of times and were lower than the Ferris Wheel)

Then we headed inside to grab some lunch. On the way, we saw some fountains and a little performance. But, Ellie was very scared of the Large puppy so we had to rush by the performance and into McDonald’s.

Outside of Navy Pier we found a little sculpture that Ellie liked playing with and we saw the fountain. Ton’s of kids were playing in it but Ellie just wanted to sit in the grass and watch. (no bathing suit)

Well, a trip to Chicago for a little girl wouldn’t be complete without a stop in the American Girl Place. I was tempted to get Ellie a new doll and some cloths. She was very excited there and the outfits were cute. And then I saw the prices. All we left with was this poor picture.

What to do next? Well, might as well head to Ghirardelli’s for an ice cream sunday.

Time to take the “city bus” back to the train. They only run every two hours on Sunday’s so we needed to make the 4:30pm back home. Of course, we had to hop off at Michigan and Randolph for some of Daddy’s favorite coffee. (YES, its the best there is)

Then it was back on the “city bus” to head to Ogilvie Station. 2 min. after we got on the packed “city bus” it began to pour. Perfect timing. We got to the station, hopped on the packed train and grabbed some seats on the top floor.

The train ended up being standing room only so we were pretty lucky. Tonight we plan on watching our movie and getting to bed early. Great day two!

Kristy decided to take a quick trip with Lexi and Tyler to Atlanta. So, Ellie and I got to spend the weekend together. It was a great time. As the middle child, I haven’t had much of an opportunity to spend extended time alone with Ellie. So, we tried to make the most of our weekend.

Saturday we dropped Mommy, Lexi and Tyler off at the airport and then headed over to the Choo-Choo restaurant for lunch. This is a little 50‘s style diner that has a large model train that runs from the kitchen around the counter and has baskets attached to the cars to deliver meals. We had hotdogs off course and split a milkshake. Ellie loved having the meal come out on the train and topped it off with a cupcake with a train whistle on top.

Then we went shopping for some school cloths. Ellie got a couple of pairs of shoes and a few new outfits. We got home and I was in a little bit of a food comma. So, we took a nap together. Woke up and snuggled on the couch and then got ready and headed off to the pool! Ellie got herself all ready. Bathing suit, Cover-up, Sun glasses, crocs and a backpack full of toys.

Unfortunately, tonight was the annual hospice duck races so the pool had closed at 4:00pm. Not to worry, we headed over to Citizen’s park and hung out with the Kim’s. We had dinner at Noodle’s and Company and then dessert at the Kim’s. We rented Ariel’s Beginnings but were both to tired to watch it so we turned in for the night. All in all, it was a great beginning to a fun weekend!
